Man is prone to prejudice. But artificial intelligence systems reinforce those prejudices even more. At the same time, it seems that biases are embedded in the technology of optical media itself, erasing not just humans and human dignity, but the nature as well.

The central theme of this Conference is therefore to explore the “Code of the Gaze” which uses new optical media and computer programmes, to discuss the (re)construction of women’s identity in the context of the new technologies, and to recognise and defy the transmission and multiplication of the inequalities and prejudices that existed and still exist in society, and which are taking on new, exponential forms in the dominant forms of high tech communication.

To raise society’s awareness of the existence of gender, class and other prejudices in AI, communication strategies are of crucial importance, as well as informing the public about the foundations on which the systems and logic of AI are based. That’s why in this conference we are aiming at dealing with communication strategies, including artistic strategies, which highlight the importance of these issues, and possible directions for their future regulation and resolution.
