The exhibition involves the cooperation of the City Gallery Užice and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade and is realized within the program “Užice – the cultural capital of Serbia in 2024”.
Slobodan Era Milivojević (Užice, 1944 — Belgrade, 2021) was one of the main
Protagonists new artistic practice during the seventies of the last century,
found its expression in performance, painting, collage, photo installations.
Photography, formatting wall photos – installation, working with and in
relation to objects, assembling things, working on pictures as objects
is a permanent and continuous impulse that emerges precisely from the performance.
The exhibition “Era Milivojević. Art is life” is divided into several units representing
the artist’s activity and chronology of actions, from early actions and performances created during in the seventies and eighties, to collages – masks created during the nineties,
painterly accomplishments realized during two thousand years and others.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog with texts of exhibition curator Una Popović,
writers Svetislav Basara, Žarko Radaković and Zoran Jeremić.
The presented works are from the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, the Lazar Sakan collection, Slavica and Daniel Trajković collection, Marko Bruno collection, archives of the photographer Goranka Matić, archives of artists Zoran Popović and Jasna Tijardović, video production Kiosk – a platform for contemporary art.
