Exhibition curator: Una Popović

Duration of the exhibition: June 7 – July 25

Ana Knežević’s solo exhibition “Geometry of Emptiness” visually, thematically, and presentationally corresponds to the idea of the Nuit Blanche event.

The “Geometry of the Void” exhibition was opened at the Serbian Cultural Center in Paris on June 7. More than 1,000 people visited the exhibition on the day of its opening.

„Nuit Blanche / White night“  event treats the city in a different way at the same time through the prism and program of museums, galleries, art installations, the focus is on settings and exhibition scenography composed of lights, neon, and various interactive light structures.

Ana Knežević is one of the pioneers of light-spatial installations in our country and was among the first to introduce a special way of treating VR within art.

“Geometry of the Void” is based on Knežević’s earlier research on physical and virtual space as a basic framework for further action at the level of perception and experience. “The geometry of the void” refers to the in-between space obtained in the distance/difference between the physical acceptance of clear and existing elements and the action of the body and senses when immersing in the constructed world of virtual reality.

The exhibition consists of three VR installations and one light-sound installation in the space. Knežević presents the VR installation “Orbital Resonance” (2024) together with “Magnetic Flower” (2023) and “Sonic Geometry” (2021). The spatial light installation in the basement called “Faraway, so close” and VR are interactive with the audience, so the exhibition is an event at the level of involvement both through the city of Paris and in the gallery space itself. All the works problematize the issues of the visible and the invisible in art as well as the experience inside and outside and are extremely communicative and open for the interaction of visitors and for individual experience.
